Our Love Story

Hey Everyone,

Today I thought I'd post Thomas and I's story on how we got together.

Thomas and I’s love story probably isn’t that different than a million other people’s but I’d like to think it’s special. Going back to where it all started; 10th grade Spanish Class.

I moved around a lot as a kid and during my 10th grade year I started out at one high school and 2 months later moved to another one across town. That’s where our story begins. It was the last trimester before school let out for summer and I had been at this high school for probably a month or two. I didn’t know anyone and we had just started the new trimester and the girls I usually sat with (seniors that kinda took me in) didn’t have the same lunch as me and I was stuck. Here is where Spanish Class comes in. This girl named Becca turned around (she was sitting in front of me) and asked if I wanted to sit together at lunch. It was super random (I later learned that’s just Becca!) but said yes right away because I had no one to sit with! The rest is basically history! Becca and I became best friends and even now 8 years later we’re still the best of friends, basically each others only “real” friend. It’s been great, we’ve done a lot of fun things together and have a friendship that I know will last forever.

Becca and I 2014

In May 2013 Becca asked me to go with her to her cousin’s surprise birthday party because it was a 45 minute drive and she didn’t want to go alone. I refused at first, I didn’t want to go to her cousin’s 22nd birthday party, I didn’t know them and it was all their family and friends. Definitely didn’t sound like a fun time to me. She pulled the best friend card and I begrudgingly said okay. When we got there I noticed a tall, cute guy sitting with everyone we were meeting. He got up and gave Becca a hug. She said hi and briefly introduced me before we went to sit down. I couldn’t take my eyes off him, he was so cute and I have a thing for tall guys (I’m 5’8 and shallow that way). I asked her why she was hiding all her cute cousins from me. She laughed and asked who I was talking about. I pointed to the guys she had just hugged and she just laughed some more. The party was good, we left soon after the birthday boy arrived with some sort of excuse. On the drive back home I wanted to know all about him. Becca wasn’t very foretelling with information. I soon let it go but definitely had him in the back of my mind as a crush and someone I’d love to get to know more.

Thomas and I; Christmas 2013

July comes and Becca’s family has a tubing trip they do up north. She invited me (I thought she was being nice, my mistake) she had actually told her mom I had a crush on her cousin; Thomas. Her mom brought it up laughing, I played it cool and just said I thought he was cute but I wouldn’t date him or anything. Little did I know Becca’s mom was going to tell him and his mom along with some aunts! How embarrassing! We get to the tubing party and get on the river. Thomas is kind of talking to me but he’s more calling me Becca’s Friend and saying how much we look alike (we don’t look alike at all), which made me think he wasn’t attracted to me if I looked like his cousin. I also heard from his brother’s girlfriend that he was causally seeing a girl already. I was crushed but still decided to have fun. We didn’t really talk much but we did sit at the same table which was as close as I thought we’d ever get. Becca and I left after lunch and right away he texted her. She found that odd since they didn’t really talk outside of family gathering and my hopes rose thinking maybe this could be a thing.

He said he had fun and told her he thought I was CUTE! Cute I tell you! I was so happy! I definitely smiled the whole way home and told Becca to tell him I thought he was cute as well. Becca did and then said she wasn’t going to be the go between person and stopped. Looking back she was not very helpful in getting him and I together and I make fun of her daily for it. We didn’t talk again until close to the end of August. I had made a Plenty of Fish (POF) dating profile months before this happened with a friend (showing her how easy it was to make one and connect with people) I was logged on to deleted it and found Thomas’ profile. I still have it saved on my computer because it is so funny! Anyways I thought it was fate and since Becca wasn’t helping me I messaged him. He messaged back and we started talking for a day or two. After that I decided I needed to step it up and told him I was deleting the app because it drained my battery (which was true) and that he could text me if he wanted. I gave him my number and waited…he texted me right away and asked me out! I was dying!!! It was one of those things where you had a crush on someone but never thought it would happen and then it DID!

We went on a date and it was great. He was just as adorable as I remembered and we actually got to talk this time. We went to Starbucks, then a walk, and then out to lunch. We then met up later that afternoon at his parents house (they were having a family party, Becca and I drove together) which was fun and kind of awkward because everyone knew we’d gone on a date. (I should mention, by this time in Becca and I’s friendship I knew a lot of her family so it wasn’t awkward in that sense, just the fact that everyone was staring at us and smiling haha).

The rest is basically history we started dating officially September 15th 2013 and he proposed December 20th 2014 and we got married April 2nd 2016. It seriously has been an amazing relationship. Becca and I laugh because it’s just so random that it happened this way. We always joked about how we can’t get rid of each other now because we’re family. It’s honestly been an amazing ride so far and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in the years to come.

Our Wedding April 2nd 2016

Until Next Time,

Christina
